More information

The multi-cultural food street in Wongok-dong is packed with foreign stores and restaurants, making visitors wonder if they are really still in Korea. Of course, most people who visit are foreigners themselves. As Ansan is home to the Banwol Industrial Complex and the Sihwa Industrial Complex, which employ many foreign workers, it was natural for this multi-cultural food street to be formed.
Foreign workers can alleviate their feelings of homesickness by enjoying flavors from home in the many diverse restaurants, while Koreans with adventurous tastes can enjoy rare foreign cuisine. The street is home to more than 90 restaurants and stores from countries like China, Russia, Vietnam, India, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, which offer a diverse selection of food and goods. After the street was designated by Gyeonggi province as an ‘Exemplary Food Culture Street’ in 2009, a number of projects to improve the hygiene and image as a food culture and tourism city were launched.
